Google AdWords & Kit: how they can help your business

 

 

Kit is a personal assistant on Facebook Messenger for Shopify accounts, it makes running your business simpler. Also, we will explain Google Adwords and how it can help your business thrive online.

Joe: Welcome to the Being Found Show. We’re the local business guide to being found by more buying customers online. We are going to do our “What is it” segment to simplify terms and tools for business owners. Let’s start by talking about Kit, which as far as I can tell, is an artificial intelligence business assistant.

What is Kit and how can it help my business? 

Kit is a virtual assistant exclusive to Shopify merchants and will proactively message you about marketing opportunities to help drive sales. Kit assists small business owners in overcoming three big challenges:

  • No time to learn or execute marketing
  • No budget to hire a marketing expert
  • No experience in online advertising to drive traffic and make sale

As of June 7, 2017, Kit is free for all Shopify store owners and easily integrates with your Shopify store and Facebook ads manager.

I’ve been using Kit for the last month or two, and I started using it first just for research for the show. Now I find it’s the best all-around marketing assistant I’ve met and I don’t mean like my admins or the people that work for me. Kit is the type of assistant that says, Joe; you did this an now you should do that.

Kit is connected to one of my Shopify stores, and it knows when I add products, it is trying to figure out what the demographic is of my customers, and so much more. I will give you an example of how it works.

Kit says, “Good day, Joe. Yesterday we sold six products for 300 dollars to one customer, and I sent a thank you email to our one new customer.” Kit says this to me through Facebook Messenger. So I am communicating with my personal assistant through Facebook Messenger. She says, “Can I send this person an email? Answer (1) for yes (2) for no.”

When I say yes, she’s not just going to send it, she’s going to have generated a thank you. She’s going to give me a link and I’m going to look at that and make sure it’s something I would want send out, all in the same breath. And then if I approve it, yes again, and she sends that person a “thank you” email.

Kit says, “What would you like to do?”If I want to promote my products on Facebook, She will then ask me, “Do you want to promote the newest ones? Do you want to promote your priority ones or your best sellers?” And then if I pick one of those she sets up an audience on Facebook based on my current customer base, without me doing a thing. She prepares the ads, I approve of them, I give a budget, and she creates the ads. These ads have been doing as good as ones made by any Facebook manager I’ve ever met or worked with, and I have worked with a lot of great ad managers.

Now onto what is “Google AdWords” and how can it help my business to get found online.

Google AdWords is an online advertising service developed by Google where advertisers pay to display brief advertising, copy, products, listings, and video content within the Google ad network to web users. In short, when you Google something and those top couple of results have that small little “Add button” or “Add link” next to that, you are seeing a Google Adwords result. You can pay Google to show that, and you pay every time somebody clicks on that ad.

Google has another platform called AdSense, a free simple way to make money online by placing ads on your website. Your ad can display in the Google Ad Network from there as well.

So why does this AdWords matter?

AdWords is the closest thing to perfect marketing there is right now. You pick keywords that people will search for relating to your site or your business. If you are willing to pay Google for a click on your website, Google’s willing to display that at the top. You will spend a lot of time doing search engine optimization so you show up, as you should because that’s got more longevity, but you can also pay to show up tomorrow.

Chauncey: One thing that which is left out about Google AdWords is a lot is that it’s a marketplace. So you’re bidding on these keywords meaning that there’s a lot of competition for that keyword. You can pay a fairly high amount of money per click. Because of that, it allows you the opportunity of digging your way in cheaply through niche keywords. If specific terms are too expensive, you can dig for something more specific where you’re going to be paying less money for those words than you are for common ones.

Joe: So it’s easy and free to sign up, and Google will help you. You can call Google, and someone will get on the phone at Google and help you set up your AdWords Runner. However, I’ve been doing this long enough to know that the real problem with this is that as businesses, we don’t have the time. I don’t have the time to do my own Google AdWords personally. So even though you could do it, you probably need to hire someone. And I’ll tell right now my team who does this is good. I’m not saying to hire me. I’m telling you that because I’ve seen when my team helps to straighten out a Google AdWords versus another team who wasn’t as effective.

I see the gains when the keywords are done right and when the bidding is done right. So you probably should spend some time to find a good person to help you with this. That is if you aren’t going to do this yourself. Also, Google will help you set this up.

You can see how much people are paying for a click and not only will that help you if you do decide to use AdWords. It’ll give you an idea of how competitive it is going to be to be found in general. If a word is too expensive, you can dig around and find one that allows you to be found at a price that isn’t so steep per click.

Chauncey: Just to help people understand this, ad results directly correlate to search results. So by logging in and seeing these things and seeing how much people are bidding on these words, we can see what the competitiveness is for these terms, outside of ads as well. On an SEO level, you can determine the competitiveness of the industry and the people in it.

Joe: The fact that I can do a radio show and record this and our staff has it transcribed so that it can be read makes me so thankful I was born at this time. If I had to write with a feathered pen and ink, my one paragraph would be ten pages long.
