1997 October: referer statistic searchengine top 100 hit parade

An indicator for the search engine friendliness of a site is the visitor distribution between Yahoo web search (av.yahoo, ink.yahoo) and the directory (yahoo and search.yahoo)

Total referers found in referer log files from all our own domains, and design and seminar customers hosted on our server. This only counts visitors coming from a link or a search engine. This does not count repeated visitors from bockmarks and visitors typing direct the URL (from newspaper or so)7494 2 visitors per pixel

After the slow development of pege.org in May 1997, we submited in August all pages to the major search engines. This was the top month of the manual designed version of pege.org

According to our observation, Infoseek had at last until January 1999 a several week persisting new page bonus.  After submiting in August and September, the new page bonus expired

1998: Business to business b2b brings more than consumer sites

We learned that a client with a business to business site with only 400 visitors a month can be extrem satisfied, while a high end consumer product site makes desperat with 4000.
