1997 May: own domain own server, false traffic building strategy

To submit a few pages to 300 (like our submission software from 1997) 'search engines' was a wrong strategy. To list all pages on the major search engines is much more effective.

Total referers found in referer log files from all our own domains, and design and seminar customers hosted on our server. This only counts visitors coming from a link or a search engine. This does not count repeated visitors from bockmarks and visitors typing direct the URL (from newspaper or so)1244 2 visitors per pixel

All together, Altavista based search engines win together this month with altavista.digital.com, altavista.telia.com and Yahoo's websearch av.yahoo.com and other Altavistas.

We learned that a client with a business to business site with only 400 visitors a month can be extrem satisfied, while a high end consumer product site makes desperat with 4000.
